Sirius University of Science and Technology was established by order of Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2019. From the very first days of study,
students are involved in scientific activities, conducting research in areas important to the country: genomics, immunobiology, neurobiology,
gene therapy, plant genome editing, robotics, clinical psychology,
ecology. The University operates five research centers in Russia's priority areas, headed by outstanding scientists and experts.
The unique infrastructure, which includes the country's largest laboratory complex in the life sciences, and the intellectual potential of Sirius University create the conditions for creating innovative products and technologies in demand by society.

"Sirius" is the first federal territory in Russia, created on the initiative of the President of Russia on December 22, 2020. Today, it is a fully-fledged urban ecosystem, separated from Sochi three years ago and now reports directly to the federal center. In a short time, "Sirius" has become a center of innovative development in Russia, a magnet for the country's most talented people, a place where talent is discovered, innovative technologies are developed, breakthrough projects are created, and comfortable infrastructure for living, working, relaxing, and smart leisure is built. Today, not only the Olympic venues are successfully developing here, but also the Sirius Educational Center, the Presidential Lyceum and College, the Scientific and Technological University, and a life sciences laboratory complex, which has no analogues in the country.
An Innovative Science and Technology Center has also been established on the federal territory, uniting over 70 resident companies. They enjoy significant tax benefits—exemption from VAT, income tax, and property tax for 10 years. Sirius has created a special system of public authorities, consisting of an administration and a federal territory council, and an experimental legal regime. This allows for the launch of unique projects in science, education, and technology that would otherwise be impossible elsewhere in the country.
